After nearly 4 months away from our lovely clients, massage and holistic therapists have now been given the green light from the Government to go back to work, with some very specific conditions, requirements and exclusions to adhere to.
The guidelines are quite extensive and should provide reassurance for both clients and practitioners that our amazing industry is as safe as it can be in a global health pandemic. If you would like to read the Government guidelines for those working within ‘Close Contact Services’ then these can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/close-contact-
My professional body The Federation of Holistic Therapists and my insurers have similarly provided some additional guidelines and procedures that need to be followed in order to allow us back to work. If you would like more information from the FHT on what members are now doing this can be
found at https://www.fht.org.uk/coronavirus-information
I am happy to say that I have been busy learning about all things relating to the Coronavirus during the past few months and have completed the following online courses to support my knowledge and understanding of the known risks associated with COVID-19 at this time. I’m confident that this will help to help ensure that I know how best to protect my clients, my colleagues and my loved ones:
- WHO course ‘Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
- WHO course ‘eProtect Respiratory Infections’
- WHO course ‘How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Jennifer Young course (FHT approved) ‘Control of Cross-infection in a Post COVID-19 World’
All this means that following a new set of updated Risk Assessments and discussion with my venue owners, there will be some strict new processes to follow for me as well as for all clients attending an appointment. These vary slightly from venue to venue so please check the process for the venue you are attending prior to your appointment.
Appointments at the Granary Clinic will resume from Saturday 18th July. More information about the new process there can be found HERE
Appointments at the Henge Shop will resume from Tuesday 21st July. More information about the new process there can be found HERE
Appointments at Amanda Marsh Physio clinic and at Becky Tolputt’s Clinic on Kingsbury Street have been suspended for the time being.
Keep an eye on my social media channels for more info and news of what’s happening at your nearest clinic. I’m very much looking forward to seeing all my lovely existing clients again and to welcoming some new ones in due course.
What have we been up to during Lockdown…..?
In a very unusual 2months…. Tamara’s been busy on social media… with Stress Awareness Month in April, Meaningful May and now Mental Health Awareness week, there has been lots of tips and advice to support people over the lockdown period. Alongside that, some home massage and yoga for your hands, some fun facts about Giraffes and other creatures!
Tamara has also been busy upskilling with online CPDs and the first part of an Oncology Massage course attended online via Zoom!!! Sadly the practical aspect has to be on hold until we can see clients again. There has been lots of sewing scrubs for GWH and for local care homes… as well as doing lots of home workouts with Joe Wicks and Tom Daley in the living room! The garden is looking fantastic with a revived pond, a new vegetable bed and an almost complete Greenhouse!
But perhaps the biggest ‘Wow’ is Tamara has long nails for the first time in years!!! Just having a spot of trouble deciding which colour to paint them this week!!!
Stay safe and well out there everyone!
